Safe Water for School Children in Rural Vietnam

Here we are, another summer.  Summer is a wonderful season; flowers, birds, young voices playing and chattering in the playgrounds. Yet, it is sometimes summer is a weary time if the person who does not have accessible, good, safe, refreshing water for drinking.

The challenges of available safe, clean water for drinking have increased.   Have you been thirsty yet this season, this summer, this day of the beginning of summer?  I have too.   Safe water is the answer.

SAFE W-A-T-E-R – ah how sweet and wonderful is safe water.  Safe water is free from microbes or chemicals that are harmful to our bodies.  Safe water is safe for children, for adults and for even animals.  Whereas clean water may look safe but may not be safe.  Clean water is what we wash our clothing in or put on our gardens and feed our chickens or livestock.

Can clean water be made into safe water?  Yes, specially made filters are used to filter water of the ever so small harmful microbes.  Many of us have the privilege of having ‘safe water from the tap’ because we live where safe water is provided by our community’s filtration systems.  However, safe water is not always available in many cities, towns, villages or for those who live in overcrowded areas or very rural areas.
