This 7000 rural people in Nigeria are in dire need for safe clean drinking water and sanitation awareness. They rely on water from stream that are easily contaminated, leading to spread of water born diseases which account for more than 20% of death annually. Children are especially susceptible. This water born diseases are preventable . We want to drill deep water borehole to be powered by solar which will steadily draw water as long as the sun is shining, water will be pumped into a sealed over headhead tank eliminating the risk of contamination, from where water will be distributed to the running taps. Workshops will also be organized for them to train them on WASH using improved guideline.
This project required the sum of US$78,960 for implementation. We have already secured the project site, carried geophysical survey, contacted drilling companies and obtain their technical advises and quotations for their drilling services.
We could only raised the sum of US$110 to date from Globalgiving for the project. We are still striving to raise more fund to enable us to implement this project fully.
