Final Stage: 1600 Safe Stoves for a Safer Home! **
At Darfur Women Network (DWN), we believe in the power of women to transform their lives and communities. Thanks to your unwavering support and our incredible partnership with GlobalGiving, we are thrilled to announce a historic milestone—the completion of the fourth and final stage of our Safe Stoves Project!
In just four months, a dedicated group of refugee women has produced an astounding 3,840 safe stoves—with 600 more stoves completed in this final stage. We are surpassing our goals!
A Refugee Mother’s Triumph:
"These stoves have changed our lives. The income helps us buy food, clothes, and even school supplies for our children. We feel proud and hopeful." – Fatima, a refugee and member of the production group.
But the impact goes far beyond income. These safe stoves have:
Reduced harmful smoke in shelters, improving air quality. Protected women and girls from dangerous firewood collection trips. Empowered refugee women with income, teamwork, and decision-making skills. Transformed community perceptions—women are now seen as leaders and providers.
A Historic Announcement:
For the first time, Darfur Women Network proudly declares the Darfur Refugee Camp completely free from traditional stoves! Every mother in the camp now has a safe stove at no cost, shielding 7,000 mothers and their daughters from rape, hostile attacks, and life-threatening smoke exposure.
