Report on safe shelter project

By tsepal Dorje Lama | Project Manager

Report on NAPO’s Safe Shelter Activities Building on the progress achieved during the previous reporting period under the “Building the Foundation” initiative, NAPO has continued to strengthen its efforts with a focused approach on government coordination, survivor support, and infrastructure completion. • Government Coordination for Running Shelter: NAPO intensified coordination with local and provincial government authorities to operationalize and sustainably manage the safe shelter. Regular consultations and follow-up meetings were conducted to advocate for government ownership, resource allocation, and integration of the shelter into existing public service systems. These efforts aim to ensure long-term functionality and institutional support for the shelter. • Support to GBV Survivors: Ongoing support services for survivors of gender-based violence were continued and strengthened. Survivors received psychosocial counseling, legal assistance, and referrals to relevant service providers. Efforts were made to ensure confidentiality, safety, and survivor-centered approaches in all interventions, contributing to improved well-being and access to justice. • Proposal Submission for Remaining Building Construction: To complete the remaining infrastructure of the safe shelter, NAPO prepared and formally submitted a proposal to the concerned government authorities. The proposal outlines the need for additional financial and technical support to finalize construction, ensuring that the shelter meets required standards and can fully serve its intended purpose. These follow-up actions have reinforced NAPO’s commitment to establishing a fully functional, sustainable, and supportive safe shelter system for women and GBV survivors. Looking ahead, the next phase will focus on: • Strengthening collaboration with government stakeholders for shelter operation and sustainability • Continuing comprehensive support services for GBV survivors • Advocating for approval and resource mobilization for the completion of remaining construction work
