The Nepal Austria Partnership Organization (NAPO) operates a women's shelter dedicated to providing a safe and supportive environment for women and children facing various forms of violence, abuse, and social exclusion. The shelter offers not only a secure space but also access to essential services, including healthcare, legal aid, and counseling. By focusing on empowerment, the shelter helps women and children rebuild their lives, gain independence, and reintegrate into society with dignity.
The women and children faces several pressing problems: widespread GBV, lack of safe shelters for GBV survivors, limited access to healthcare and justice, and deep-rooted gender inequality. Women, particularly from marginalized groups, are often unaware of their rights, making them vulnerable to exploitation and abuse. Social exclusion and poor access to economic resources further compound these challenges, leaving many women without the support needed to escape cycles of violence and poverty.
This project aims to establish and run a safe shelter for women, offering protection and a supportive environment for those escaping violence. The shelter will also provide access to healthcare, legal assistance, and educational resources, empowering women to reclaim their rights and build self-sufficient lives. Additionally, the project will focus on raising awareness about gender equality and women's rights, helping to reduce gender-based violence and promote social inclusion.
The long-term impact of this project will be the empowerment of women in the community, leading to a significant reduction in gender-based violence and social inequality. By providing a safe space and access to essential resources, the project will help women rebuild their lives, gain economic independence, and assert their rights. Over time, this will contribute to breaking the cycle of poverty and abuse, fostering a more inclusive and equitable society.
