Safe Shelter for 16 Children and Woman in Thailand

Since our latest update on our MRICRH, the weather of Thailand has noticeably deepened into early winter.

Although the temperature is around 15 degrees Celsius, it is enough to feel a cold wintery wind in the night time. Because the children here do not have proper winter clothes, they are wearing extra layers of clothing to endure the cold weather. Thankfully, a personal donor donated some clothes for the children so they will be able to go through this cold early winter season. Through donor’s charity and empathetic concern, our children in MRICRH can feel a good, warm and compassionate heart which gives them the chance to recognize that we, human beings, can be selfless and socially responsible.

 In spite of cold weather, our five brave children would not stop swimming in the daytime. They continued to develop an understanding of how to utilize the water for proper stroke technique. Now they can swim perfect freestyle and backstroke. Also, they now understand how to manipulate their “center of buoyancy” by continually practicing the breaststroke, underwater dolphin kick, and butterfly. “I will participate in youth swimming competition next year! I want to show my friends how I can swim fast and well” exclaimed twelve-year-old Fai, midway through one of our swimming lessons. 

Lastly, we harvested some crops from the MRICRH farm. Although we brought in a harvest less than our expectation, all of the MRICRH members were so happy and enjoyed doing farming. Our children have acquired basic skills for farming in their home environment by actively participating in working on the farm, which includes a wide range of livestock and crops. We hope that when they return to their homes, they will be able to access more nutritious food, and family income can be generated through the sale of farm products.
