For children returning to their communities after years of displacement and conflict, returning home should also mean having a safe place to learn.
In Douma, Rural Damascus, many children continue to face damaged school infrastructure and difficult learning conditions. Access to safe and supportive education is essential not only for children's academic development, but also for helping families rebuild a sense of stability and normalcy.
Our project remains focused on rehabilitating a school and creating a safer, more child-friendly learning environment for 500 returnee and marginalized children. The planned activities also include awareness sessions for children and caregivers on the importance of education and safety around explosive remnants of war.
The project has not yet received sufficient funding to begin these planned activities, but the need for safe education remains urgent.
Continued support can help move this project from planning to implementation and bring children closer to the safe and dignified learning environment they deserve.
We remain committed to supporting children and families as they rebuild their lives and communities.
Thank you for caring about the future of children returning home in Syria.
