SAFE HOME 4 ORPHANS &VULNERABLE CHILDREN NIGERIA

The period from February to May 2026 was marked by continued commitment to providing quality care, protection, education, healthcare, nutrition, and emotional support to all children in the home. The children were supported in a safe, nurturing, and family-like environment that promoted their overall development.

FEBRUARY:
Children settled into their academic routines and received three balanced meals daily, with fruits and snacks where available. Age-appropriate chores encouraged discipline and independence. All school-age children resumed school, with fees, uniforms, textbooks, and other materials provided. Activities included the PTA meeting, Fruit Day, Market Day, mid-term tests, Color Day, and Valentine’s Day celebrations. Child MO received an award of excellence in Mathematics. Evening lessons, homework supervision, reading sessions, and academic support continued. Routine health checks, hygiene education, football, indoor games, storytelling, music, and dance supported the children’s physical and social development.

MARCH:
Counselling and mentorship continued, with emphasis on emotional well-being, self-esteem, and responsible decision-making. Children resumed school after mid-term break and participated in Open Day and continuous assessments. Second-term examinations began on March 30. Individual academic support and teacher communication helped monitor progress. Children received nutritious meals and medical attention when needed. Child MA and Child B attended court, where their care order was extended to June 9, 2026. The home also observed Eid al-Fitr through special meals and recreational activities, promoting religious tolerance and cultural understanding.

APRIL:
Caregivers continued close supervision and emotional support. Academic preparation included revision classes, homework assistance, and reading competitions. Children participated in their school Cultural Day, representing different Nigerian tribes. Easter activities promoted love, kindness, forgiveness, and compassion through lessons, special meals, music, games, and recreation. The children attended the Lagos State Easter Fiesta at Alausa, where they received lunch bags, fabrics, and food essentials. Environmental sanitation and health education on hygiene, disease prevention, healthy eating, and cleanliness also continued.

MAY:
The home received two new siblings, a 3-year-old boy and 7-year-old girl, on May 2 after they were referred from a nearby police station. They were immediately taken for medical assessment. Schools resumed for third term on May 4, with reading classes, academic report reviews, and school meetings. Children enjoyed “No School Bag Day” and participated in Children’s Day celebrations featuring talent displays, cultural presentations, football, singing, dancing, motivational talks, refreshments, and gifts. Workers’ Day was also observed in appreciation of caregivers, staff, volunteers, and supporters. Eid Mubarak was observed on May 27–28.

CHALLENGES:
The major challenges included rising food, education, transportation, and healthcare costs, as well as the need for additional educational technology, tutorial support, and continuous healthcare monitoring.

ACHIEVEMENTS & RECOMMENDATIONS:
The home maintained consistent school attendance, improved academic performance, quality nutrition and healthcare, emotional support, discipline, and a safe environment. Continued donor support, strengthened healthcare and nutrition programs, additional recreational facilities, and ongoing staff development and child-protection training are recommended.

CONCLUSION:
Despite challenges, February–May 2026 was productive and rewarding. Through the dedication of staff, volunteers, donors, schools, and supporters, the children continued to thrive academically, socially, emotionally, and physically. Management sincerely appreciates all supporters and remains committed to improving the care and opportunities provided to every child.
