In 2023, Habitat for Humanity launched Home Equals, a five-year global advocacy campaign focused on improving living conditions in informal settlements. Working in over 40 countries around the world, Home Equals aims to influence policies that expand access to adequate housing in informal settlements for 15 million people.
To date, through Home Equals, the global network has made incredible strides in advocating for improved living conditions in slums and informal settlements. Habitat organizations worldwide have built strong partnerships and collaborated with governments at all levels to successfully influence 50 local or national policies and unlock US$1.2 billion in public funding, resulting in increased access to adequate housing in informal settlements for over 2.8 million people. The year 1 report features the campaign’s global launch, showcases our collective achievements and shares impactful advocacy successes from the ground.
