S.O.S. Ebola: Protecting People with Disabilities

By NIYONZIMA | Cordinator

The Ebola Bundibugyo outbreak in Ituri Province poses a serious threat to people who already face barriers to accessing healthcare and reliable health information. For people with disabilities, street-connected individuals, and vulnerable families, obtaining accurate information, hygiene supplies, and protective materials can be especially difficult. Through this project, ADHC aims to bring essential health information and preventive support closer to those who need it most.

The project is currently in its preparation and fundraising phase. ADHC is identifying qualified trainers and potential learners to support community awareness activities. Field activities, including health education and the distribution of hygiene and protective supplies, are scheduled to begin once sufficient funding has been secured. Although no funds have been raised so far toward the US$12,500 target, we remain committed to turning this initiative into practical support for vulnerable communities. With the collaboration and fundraising opportunities provided by GlobalGiving, we hope to reach more generous supporters and mobilize the resources needed to move forward.

Our goal is to help people recognize Ebola symptoms, understand how the disease spreads, adopt safer hygiene practices, and seek medical assistance promptly when necessary. We also aim to improve access to essential preventive supplies and ensure that people with disabilities are not overlooked in community health responses. While these results are still ahead of us, early support can help lay the groundwork for meaningful, lasting change.

We sincerely thank GlobalGiving for its partnership and every donor who chooses to stand with vulnerable communities. We invite individuals, organizations, and compassionate supporters around the world to contribute to this project. Every donation, whatever its size, will bring us closer to our US$12,500 goal and help ADHC prepare life-saving awareness and prevention activities for those most at risk. Together, we can help protect lives, promote dignity, and ensure that no one is left behind in the fight against Ebola.
