The tireless fundraising efforts of Kitezh and Ecologia have been rewarded – the 1st phase of the Family Development and Education Centre is almost complete!
This part of the centre will provide a much needed new school for children living at Kitezh and for those attending residential education programmes from elsewhere in Russia. With 5 new classrooms, toilets, medical and boiler rooms as well as a large recreation space sheltered from the cold winter climate, it’s no wonder the children cannot wait to start their new school!
The current school at Kitezh is a wooden building with only 2 small classrooms and which no longer meets the government requirements necessary for it to operate as a provider of specialist education. The new school also means Kitezh can expand its innovative education programmes to benefit greater numbers of children within a comfortable, modern, functional and environmentally friendly building.
We’re nearly there! The school will be ready to open its doors once funds to pay for the fixtures and fittings have been secured. We hope it will be ready in time for the new school year on 1st September 2015. Ecologia is helping Kitezh by pledging to raise £10,000 towards these costs.
