Kitezh Children's Communities in Russia are non-profit villages of foster families whose aim is simple: to give abandoned or orphaned children a real chance in life and hope for the future. With help from Ecologia Youth Trust, Kitezh is building a new Education Centre in order to increase the number of orphans who can benefit from therapeutic education at Kitezh.
Hundreds of thousands of children are in state care in Russia, often poorly looked after and ill-equipped to face adult life. Our project with two pioneering foster family villages gives Russian orphans a real alternative to life in an orphanage by providing them with loving families, homes, education and therapeutic care in a supportive community. However, the old wooden schoolhouse is no longer adequate and we urgently need to raise funds for a new Education Centre.
Children raised in Kitezh enter adulthood fully prepared as healthy, well-adjusted adults, with many going on to university and having families of their own. We are seeking to develop the project by building a new Education Centre which is both harmonious with the environment and inspiringly innovative. Please support us to help fund the direct costs involved in building for the future, by building the new Education Centre.
Our Children's Communities are a real alternative to state orphanages and the social issues they create. After 20 years of experience, the Kitezh foster parents are well placed to offer training and support to other foster parents. So the Education Centre will provide space for foster family trainings as well as enable significantly more children to be cared for and educated at this pioneering foster village in Russia.
