At last this year we have a permanent home for a kindergarten. Before that, our small children had to move from one house to another. Our new kindergarten is now based in the house where the family of Tamara Pichugina lives. We renovated the ground floor of the log house: moved the walls, covered the floors with a carpet, put shelves for toys and handicrafts along the walls, built two bunk beds. Tamara, who is in charge of the kindergarten, collected all the best toys she needed and bought nice, colourful bed linen. The children are very happy about their new kindergarten. Now they have a place of their own. They love to play, have lessons and sleep there in the afternoon. It's good to see how they tidy up their room, make their beds and arrange their toys.
At the moment there are 5 children at Orion Kindergarten. Sonya (6 years old) and Daryona (7 years old) are now preparing for school. Thanks to lessons with Tamara they can read, write and count well. Danya and Nastya (both 5 years old) are trying to keep up with them. Although they are still too young for school, they also study, using their special textbooks and exercise books. The youngest of Orion children Sasha, daughter of Masha and Anton, often spends time at the kindergarten. She is only 18 months old, but she loves playing with older children.
Tamara spends a lot of time with the children teaching, reading, feeding them and putting them to bed. Every day our other teachers have lessons at the kindergarten according to a timetable. Arina does hiking in the woods and painting lessons. Katya teaches music, rhythmics and handcrafts. Sergey is in charge of physical development, and teaches them sports, roller blading, playing football. Sasha introduces children to farming, they ride our horse with her. She also teaches them some karate. All adults at Orion take part in raising these children, because this is a very important period in their development when the basics of understanding the world are being built. The more love and care we'll give them now, the more we can teach them in future.
Our children adore the animals, they love the rabbits and chickens and our cow. Children from the kindergarten group Sonya, Daryona and Danya love to feed rabbits and change water for them. They also collect the eggs from the hencoop every day. Although small, Danya is very brave. He was the only child who wasn't afraid to ride Rigel, our horse. "Myself!' he said and took the reins from an adult. Two years ago Danya was taken from the orphanage by one of our foster families. At that time he hadn't even seen a flower and couldn't talk. Now he is developing well, he is confident, happy and loving.
Thank you, our supporters, for giving this opportunity to our children! It costs about £2,000 per year to support the Kindergarten so your donations, large or small, all help to support Tamara to continue her great work with our youngest members to give them strength and belief in themselves.
