Shaping Healthier Futures Through Storybooks

Your generosity has profoundly impacted the lives of thousands in Ethiopia, revolutionising healthcare access and quality for those affected by non-communicable diseases (NCDs). Together, we embarked on a journey to create lasting change, and we are thrilled to share the remarkable results achieved over the past 4.5 years.Through your support, we trained 47 Master trainers, equipping them with essential skills to address NCDs effectively. This knowledge has rippled through local communities, as 692,384 individuals were screened, and 54,824 were enrolled in life-changing treatments. The most common diagnoses were hypertension and diabetes, and your contributions have enabled us to deliver quality diagnosis, treatment, and care through training 17 GPs and 208 dedicated healthcare professionals.  

Your impact extends even further as we trained 621 primary healthcare workers and 610 Health Extension Workers on risk factors, diagnosis, and referral procedures, promoting early detection and timely intervention. Health education reached an astounding 693,302 individuals, enhancing health-seeking behaviour and awareness.We distributed 25,000 brochures and 1,000 posters across target locations, providing vital information on NCDs, risk factors, and available services. Additionally, 1.5 million radio messages were broadcasted, maximising our outreach and impact.  

Thanks to your unwavering support, we conducted 237 mentorship and supervisory visits, ensuring healthcare workers stay well-equipped to tackle challenges. Your contributions have enabled us to create an environment of ownership and progress by engaging decision-makers, stakeholders, and local government staff, fostering lasting change.  

As we move forward, your continued support will be invaluable. We aim to intensify our efforts, address critical gaps, and expand to new sites with low NCD services. Strengthening the Family Health Team approach and establishing a standardised mentoring mechanism for on-the-job training are just some of the areas we plan to focus on, driven by your unwavering belief in our cause.
