Zarbaig school in Dir has been recently constructed with the generous help of DIL supporters. The first purpose built girls school in this rural area, Zarbaig has 9 classrooms and 4 washrooms. Girls could not access education in this area and families have had to survive on meagre earnings primarily on daily wage labourers' income. The 218 students attending Zarbaig come from poor households where literacy barely exists and job opportunities remain extremely restricted.
The desire for accessing and completing their basic education is high amongst the bright young girls of Zarbaig and surrounding villages. DIL has opened the new Zarbaig School campus in May 2015 with library and sports facilities and trained teachers. As soon as the school opened its new campus, enrolment increased from 176 to 218 students. However the young girls from extremely poor families need support for basic items like uniforms, transport, books and other learning materials.
In response to the immediate need, the DIL Zarbaig School has been built on community donated land. The school has all the facilities required to impart a good education. This project, with your support, will enable 115 girls and 68 boys to attend the Zarbaig School even when their families are too poor to afford basic needs like books and transport.
DIL Zarbaig school will provide quality education from KG to Grade 8 for 250 rural girls each year. It will support the continued development of local female teachers. 6 villages in Dir will have access to continued quality education for girls. As girls get education, they will bring change in their families, improve their livelihood options, and bring progress to their communities.
