Promoting Natural Farming Practices in Bangladesh

Shrimp and polyculture Fish farming is the main profession of the coastal community of Sundarbans. But by conserving the natural environment how can increase the production of the farmers is the main target of BEDS (Bangladesh Environment and Development Society). To fulfill the objectives of silvo-fishery model that is implementing in southwestern coastal region in Bangladesh. That will provide the environmental sustainability with livelihood security because mangrove plantation in fish farm will provide shade in sever hot weather, mangrove leaf litter turn into natural food for fish, create a natural shelter for the fish and also biodiversity can preserve through the planation. So, input cost of the production will be minimized and natural production increase. To protect the natural environment and economic development , have to implement these model in all over the coastal area. BEDS is currently trying to raise funds from GlobalGiving platform in order to help those marginal people in the way of income generation for their better future with better economic conditions. We also hope that through taking support from various corners they will be able to use their products for earning their sound livelihood.
