Dear friends and donors

The pupils at Bulla Afya Primary School are making good progress. Especially, the girls who are part of the tuition or remedial programme have made a remarkable improvement in their school attainment and achievement. Many of the girls who previously lagged behind in their school assessment are now among the top performers. Their progress is so noticeable that the boys are now asking to be included in the programme. Unfortunately due to the project's scope, this is not possible.

I recently visited the school to observe the remedial lessons and review students books and teachers' records. As mentioned in our previous report, the school is new and ill-equipped as shown by the photos. I watched some of the lessons and spoke to some orphaned and vulnerable girls receiving remedial lessons. Their enthusiasms and love for knowledge were evident.

One of the many issues raised by the teachers was the danger posed by snakes to the girls in the temporary classrooms. This term, the teachers killed two huge snakes. The girls are scared and lack concentration during lessons for fear of snakes. As a matter of urgency, we are now seeking support from institutional and individual donors to build a permanent classroom for the girls. The estimated cost of a classroom is £5000 and with a permanent classroom, the girls will be more focused and ready to learn. The school still lacks proper sanitation which is becoming increasingly a health hazard.

Fortunately, we received books donations from Book Aid International which we have delivered to the school to help with reading skills development.

Thank you for your support and we shall send a detailed report on individual students' report later next month.

Please consider donating to this school so that we can provide our girls with a more conducive environment.

Thank you

May God Bless You.
