Youth & Children Digital Computer Literacy Report

By KUTA WESLEY OBWAMU | KUTA WESLEY OBWAMU

Vijana Tuungane Youth Group continues to make positive progress in empowering young people and adults with coding and computer skills within the community. The project is currently active and has successfully engaged children, youth, and adults through digital literacy training, basic computer lessons, and introductory coding classes.
At present, the organization has established a small but functional learning environment equipped with computers and internet access to support training activities. Participants are attending regular classes in areas such as computer applications, internet usage, coding basics, and digital communication skills. The project has also increased awareness among community members on the importance of technology and digital skills in education, employment, and entrepreneurship.
The project has recorded improved participation, especially among young people interested in technology and innovation. Several learners have gained confidence in using computers, while others are beginning to develop practical coding and problem-solving skills. Community outreach and mentorship activities have further strengthened youth engagement and encouraged more participants to join the program.
Despite the progress, the project still faces challenges including limited computer equipment, inadequate funding, inconsistent internet connectivity, and growing demand for training services. The organization is working towards strengthening partnerships, improving data management systems, and mobilizing additional resources to expand its impact.
Overall, Vijana Tuungane Youth Group is steadily growing and remains committed to bridging the digital skills gap by providing accessible technology education and empowering communities through innovation and learning.
