Rukundo Preparatory School (RPS) offers a premier education experience. Small classes, dedicated teachers, & new facilities, including flushing toilets, make our school stand out among other rural schools with overcrowded classrooms & unsanitary conditions. In addition, we provide two nutritious meals each day-for some students, the only meals they rely on. To help support more children, we need YOUR help to raise $45K to complete the construction of our primary school's first-level foundation.
Due to the cancellation of fundraisers during the global pandemic, donations have dropped. We must replace these funds to secure the construction of our Primary 4 classroom, so that we can continue with our long-term plan to expand the school through Primary 7 & educate 300 students. While children in Uganda have access to public schools, many rural families can't afford the fees, & classes are often overcrowded with as many as 100 kids. The quality of public education is yet another concern.
Our school provides a first-rate education to children in Uganda. Many of these children had never seen playground equipment & had to be taught how to use it, along with the teachers! Our students are thriving because each child is cared for in a holistic way. Our school is a safe haven to play, learn new skills, and have access to clean water and healthy meals. Constructing the first level will allow our Primary 3 students to graduate in 2021 with a permanent space to continue their education.
Going beyond the school's primary mission, our focus is on sustainable programs that will impact the well-being of the entire community. We achieve this by using our school's grounds and facilities as a community center for weekly children's events, health clinics, women's empowerment groups, vocational training, and more. Our vision is "a Uganda where all children reach their full potential"-starting with Kyanamira. We believe education is the key to help Ugandans become world-changers.
