Angels Palace Report on ROOTS OF RESILIENCE: Nurturing a Stronger Tomorrow

Reporting Period: January – September 2025
Location: Chegutu Rural District

1. Priority Area Monitored

This report focuses on the Roots of Resilience Program, which provides holistic support for orphans and vulnerable children (OVCs) in rural communities, addressing their educational, social, and emotional needs.

2. Executive Summary

Between January and September 2025, Angels Palace implemented activities under the Roots of Resilience initiative aimed at empowering orphans and vulnerable children in Chegutu Rural District. The program focused on improving access to education, meeting basic needs, offering mentorship, and promoting psychosocial support.

Key highlights include:

  • School Support: Provision of school supplies and learning materials.

  • Dignity Drive: Distribution of hygiene packs to vulnerable children.

  • Clothing Drive: Ongoing clothing support throughout the year.

  • Mentorship Camp: A two-day camp in August, focused on life skills, resilience, and self-esteem building.

The initiative has directly impacted over 250 children, fostering hope, confidence, and resilience in some of the most marginalized communities.

3. Introduction

Orphans and vulnerable children in rural areas often face multiple barriers — poverty, lack of educational resources, social exclusion, and trauma. These challenges weaken their ability to thrive and dream of a brighter future.

The Roots of Resilience initiative was launched by Angels Palace as a community-based response to provide holistic care, ensuring children’s education, dignity, and emotional well-being are protected and nurtured.

4. Objectives

The main objectives of the program are:

  • To support orphans and vulnerable children with educational resources and psychosocial support.

  • To promote dignity, self-confidence, and hope through mentorship and life skills development.

  • To strengthen resilience by meeting basic needs such as clothing, school supplies, and hygiene packs.

  • To create a supportive community environment where children feel valued and protected.

5. Methodology

  • Direct Assistance: Distribution of school supplies, clothing, and hygiene packs.

  • Community Engagement: Working with schools, caregivers, and local leaders to reach vulnerable children.

  • Mentorship and Training: Camps and sessions facilitated by mentors to nurture life skills and confidence.

  • Monitoring & Documentation: Recording beneficiary numbers and feedback from children and community members.

6. Findings

  • Total Beneficiaries Reached (Jan–Sept 2025): 250 children (orphans and vulnerable children).

  • Activities Conducted:

    • Distribution of school supplies (books, pens, bags, calculators).

    • Clothing drive – ongoing donations throughout the year.

    • Dignity Drive – hygiene packs provided, helping to restore confidence.

    • Mentorship Camp (August 2025) – 2 days of resilience building, focusing on self-esteem, teamwork, and future aspirations.

Immediate Outcomes:

  • Improved school attendance due to availability of learning materials.

  • Increased self-confidence among children receiving hygiene packs and clothing.

  • Positive feedback from teachers and caregivers regarding improved participation and motivation among supported children.

7. Analysis, Challenges, and Recommendations

Progress & Achievements:
The program has significantly contributed to improving the well-being of OVCs in Chegutu Rural District, offering not just material support but also emotional empowerment through mentorship.

Challenges:

  • Limited financial resources restrict the scale of interventions.

  • Growing demand, with more children identified as needing support than the current program can reach.

  • Some rural communities remain hard to access due to logistical challenges.

Recommendations:

  • Strengthen collaboration with local and international partners to expand resource base.

  • Scale up mentorship and psychosocial support activities, as they have shown strong positive impact.

  • Improve outreach strategies to include more remote schools and households.

8. Conclusion (Lessons Learnt)

The Roots of Resilience: Nurturing a Stronger Tomorrow initiative highlights that resilience is built not only through meeting children’s basic needs but also by fostering hope, belonging, and self-worth. Supporting 250 orphans and vulnerable children so far this year demonstrates the power of collective action in shaping brighter futures.

As Angels Palace, we have learned that every small act of care plants the seed of resilience — and with sustained support, these children can grow into strong, confident, and capable young leaders of tomorrow.
