RollingHope: Balochistan Wheelchair Fundraiser

By Mehmood Rind Baloch | Program Manager (BRDP)

Fundraising Platform: GlobalGiving
Target Amount: USD 31,001
Funds Raised to Date: USD 1,050

1. Introduction

The RollingHope: Balochistan Wheelchair Fundraiser is an ongoing humanitarian initiative led by the Balochistan Rural Development Program (BRDP) to improve the lives of individuals with disabilities across Balochistan. In a region where accessibility remains a major challenge, many people living with disabilities are unable to participate fully in daily life due to the lack of mobility aids. This project seeks to address this gap by providing wheelchairs and tricycles to those most in need, enabling them to live with dignity, independence, and enhanced social inclusion.

 2. Project Objectives

The core objectives of this initiative are:

  • Provision of Mobility Aids: Distribute wheelchairs and tricycles to disabled individuals who cannot afford them.
  • Enhanced Social Inclusion: Empower beneficiaries to participate more actively in education, work, and community life.
  • Awareness & Advocacy: Raise public awareness about the challenges faced by people with disabilities and advocate for their rights and accessibility.

 3. Achievements to Date

  • Funds Raised: Successfully raised USD 1,050 through GlobalGiving donations.
  • Mobility Aids Distributed: Procured and distributed 10 wheelchairs and 5 tricycles to beneficiaries in different districts.
  • Impact on Lives: Beneficiaries reported significant improvements in mobility, independence, and overall quality of life.
  • Community Engagement: Distribution events documented through photographs and testimonials, showcasing real-life stories of transformation.
  • Positive Public Response: The initiative has gained appreciation from community members, media, and local stakeholders.

 4. Ongoing Fundraising Efforts

While the initial phase has been impactful, the project is far from complete. To reach the target of USD 31,001, BRDP continues to:

  • Actively engage with donors via online campaigns, newsletters, and social media outreach.
  • Seek partnerships with local businesses, corporate sponsors, and international NGOs.
  • Conduct community awareness drives to build broader public support for the cause.

 5. Challenges Faced

  • Financial Constraints: Current funding is insufficient to meet the growing number of requests for mobility aids.
  • Geographic Barriers: Delivering wheelchairs and tricycles to remote and hard-to-reach areas remains logistically challenging.
  • Awareness Gap: Limited public understanding of the daily struggles faced by people with disabilities in rural areas.

 6. Future Plans

  • Scale-Up Distribution: Expand the reach of the project to cover more districts and rural communities in Balochistan.
  • Strengthen Partnerships: Collaborate with health departments, disability rights organizations, and local community leaders.
  • Advocacy for Policy Change: Work towards legislation and government programs that ensure the rights and accessibility of disabled individuals.
  • Donor Engagement: Host donor appreciation events and publish regular impact stories to maintain transparency and trust.

 7. Conclusion

The RollingHope: Balochistan Wheelchair Fundraiser has already brought life-changing benefits to several individuals by restoring mobility, confidence, and hope. Yet, the journey is ongoing. The support of compassionate donors, committed partners, and engaged communities is essential to reach the goal of USD 31,001 and ensure that no disabled person in Balochistan is left without the means to move freely.

We express our deepest gratitude to all who have contributed so far. Together, we can keep this wheel of hope rolling and create a more inclusive and accessible future for all.
