This project will provide free reusable sanitary pads and menstrual health education to 2,000 vulnerable girls in under-served schools and communities in Uganda over six months. Your support will help girls stay in school, regain confidence, and manage their periods safely and with dignity. In many rural and low-income communities in Uganda, thousands of girls miss school every month simply because they cannot afford sanitary pads.
In many low-income communities in Uganda, girls miss school every month because they cannot afford sanitary pads. Without safe menstrual products, they often resort to unsafe alternatives, leading to infections, embarrassment, and absenteeism. Over time, this affects academic performance and increases the risk of school dropout.
This project offers a sustainable and empowering solution. Over the next six months, Spirit of Hope for Women Africa will: Train and engage girls and young women in sewing reusable sanitary pads. Produce high-quality reusable pad kits locally. Distribute free kits to 2,000 vulnerable girls in schools and marginalized communities. Provide menstrual health education sessions alongside distribution.
The long-term goal of this initiative is to eliminate menstrual poverty in under-serve communities while building a sustainable, women-led social enterprise that produces affordable reusable sanitary pads across Uganda and eventually East Africa. Over the next 3-5 years, Spirit of Hope for Women Africa aims to: Establish a fully equipped community production center for reusable sanitary pads. Train and certify hundreds of girls and young women in tailoring, entrepreneurship, and small-business
