Spirit of Hope for Women Africa runs a community-driven initiative focused on providing menstrual hygiene
support to school-going girls in Uganda. The project was listed on GlobalGiving with the goal of reaching
girls in underserved communities who lack access to basic sanitary products — a barrier that directly
causes school absenteeism and dropout, limiting the educational and economic future of young women.
Activities Carried Out — Term 1, 2026
Even with severely limited resources, the Spirit of Hope for Women Africa team extended sanitary pad
support to school girls during the first term of 2026. We procured and packaged sanitary pads into
individual branded pouches bearing the Spirit of Hope for Women Africa logo, ensuring each girl received
her kit with dignity and care.
The pouches were then distributed at a community outreach event attended by women, girls, community
members, and organizational staff. The event brought together a diverse group of participants who came
together to celebrate the initiative, raise awareness about menstrual hygiene, and show solidarity with the
girls being supported.
Participants held up their kits in celebration, reflecting the joy and relief that access to such basic
necessities brings to girls and women who would otherwise go without.
