Hi, Thank you so much for your donations to this Kimbilio Project to Reunite Children with their Families. Every child deserves to be brought up in the safety and warmth of their own family.
The Kimbilio team of Carers in Lubumbashi work had to identify the family of each street child who comes to their Day Centre and to establish whether the child can be safely reintegrated with the family. Sometimes, for example, it may be a grandparent or an aunt who is best placed to take the child into their home if the child's parents are unwell or deceased or if they cannot financially support the child any more. The Kimbilio Carers may offer a sack of grain to the family to help them to feed the extra mouth or to pay for school fees, books and uniform.
Locating a child's family and negotiating the child's return may take many months, so often the child will come and live in the Kimbilio short-term house in Lubumbashi where they will a health check up, regular meals and clothing. Your donations help Kimbilio to look after the child from the moment they come to the Day Centre to when they are successfully reintegrated into their family.

Thank you so much for your support for this vital Kimbilio project of reuniting children living on the streets with their families. These young children deserve the love and support of their families and the Kimbilio staff team in Lubumbashi make a priority to talk with the children when they come to the Day Centre to discover the circumstances that have led to these children leaving their home and living on the streets.
Ilness or death of one of the parents can often be a factor as the surviving parent may not be able to support their children. Sometimes, after remarriage, the new parent comes already with children, and there may be too many to support. The Kimbilio team seek to establish contact with the family members and negotiate a return of the child. Sometimes, grandparents or aunts and uncles may take in the children. Often the Kimbilio team may contribute towards school fees and school uniforms and text books to help the familiy. Or provide a sack of grain to help them to feed the returning child.
Thank you again for your generous support.

Reintegration of elder daughter
Thank you so much for your financial support for this most vital work of the Kimbilio team of carers in Lubumbashi, Democratic Republic of Congo. Reintegrating children found living on the streets of this big city with their wider family is critical to giving these children love and hope and the chance of a good future.
In 2024, the team have to date reintegrated 20 boys and 14 girls into their wider families. Each case involves seeking and then establishing contact with the child's family and understanding the reason why their child is living on the streets. Simetimes the child has travelled many hundreds of miles across this huge country to reach the city of Lubumbashi. If the reason fot the child's departure is financial, then the team may provide the family with bags of grain to ease the challenge of feeding an extra mouth. School fees may be paid, or school uniform and books purchased so that the child may be able to go to school. Where a parent or parents have died, or are not well, then a family member may agree to look after the child. Often, the negotiation process between the Kimbilio team and the child's family can take many months before conditions are right for the child to be reintegrated.
Thank you again for your support.
