Hello friends and supporters. This is a recap of the work Retake has been doing since our last report in April.
June and July were full of World Refugee Day celebrations across North Carolina. We always love getting to see families we've worked with, nonprofits and organizations we've partnered with, and new people we want to get to know. The celebrations are a chance to meet and mingle, and also to learn about refugees in our local communities; what they've gone through and how we can welcome them.
We photographed a couple of Ukrainian families who have resettled into North Carolina. As the war rages on, families continue to make the tough decision to leave. One of the families had been here for 8 months, another had only arrived the month before.
Now that summer is ending, we are scheduling back-to-back photoshoots throughout September and October. We will be working with as many families as possible.
In November, we plan on working in Washington, DC with our nonprofit partners in that region.
Thank you again for your support. It is because of your generosity that we are able to help more families who are starting over by giving them new keepsakes through trauma-healing photoshoots.
