Dear Supporters,
World Sight Day is more than just an annual event; it's a call to action to ensure that every child has the opportunity to thrive without their vision becoming a barrier. At Eyes of Africa, we have a straightforward yet profound mission: to ensure that no child is left behind due to unaddressed vision problems. We believe that by addressing these issues, we can break the cycle of poverty and help children excel in the classroom.
On this World Sight Day, we're excited to share the culmination of a meaningful project in a local community. We took the last four children in this outreach initiative to visit an Optometrist for their first comprehensive vision test. The results were eye-opening (pun intended.) All four children were silently battling vision challenges that were hindering their progress in school. Shockingly, one of them required a prescription as high as +9. It's no wonder these children are struggling in class and falling behind in their grades.
World Sight Day is also more than just raising awareness; it's an opportunity for us to create a tangible impact. We must recognize the critical role clear vision plays in our society as a whole. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of these children and ensure they don't get left behind. By addressing their vision problems, we open doors of opportunity and break the cycle of poverty.
Together, let's ensure that no child is left behind.
