Obi Integrated School serves 299 vulnerable K-9 students in storm-prone Bicol, Catanduanes Island who face unsafe classrooms and limited resources. This project will repair school facilities, provide safe learning spaces, and equip students and teachers with basic supplies. With community support, we aim to create a resilient, secure environment where children can learn and thrive despite ongoing challenges.
Obi school's classrooms suffer from storm damage, overcrowded and unsafe structures, and a lack of learning materials. Students face disrupted classes and ongoing health risks, while teachers struggle with inadequate resources. These conditions hinder education, affect long-term learning outcomes, and deepen inequality. Without urgent support, children remain at risk, and their education-and future-will continue to suffer.
We will demolish unsafe structures, repair damaged classrooms, build five new sustainable classrooms, add water filtration, retrofit toilet blocks, add a new playground, and provide students with learning kits. By working with local partners, parents and staff, we ensure sustainable improvements. These actions restore safe spaces, support teachers, and give children the tools they need to succeed in school and beyond.
Safe, resilient classrooms and better resources will increase school attendance, improve academic performance, and reduce dropout rates. Families will feel confident sending their children to school even after storms. Over time, stronger infrastructure and community ownership foster stability, empowering students to finish school and build a path out of poverty.
