Dear GlobalGiving supporter,

This is an honest update from Bahir Dar Charity Association (BDCA) regarding our project to restore wardamaged schools and sanitation facilities for 5,000 children in Amhara, Ethiopia.

As of today, we have not yet raised any funds through this GlobalGiving project. No donations have been received, so no physical repair work has begun. We want to be fully transparent with our community of potential supporters.

However, the need has not diminished. The 10 target schools remain with broken roofs, shattered windows, damaged furniture, and nonfunctional water points. Girls continue to miss school because there are no safe, genderseparated latrines. Every week, we hear from head teachers that children are learning in dusty, unsafe, or openair spaces.

What we have done with zero funds:
Even without donations, BDCA has not stood still. Our team has:

• Conducted two verification visits to three of the most damaged schools (Gish Abay, Merawi, and Yismala) to update our repair cost estimates.
• Held community meetings with ParentTeacher Associations and local education offices, reaffirming their commitment to provide labor and local materials once funding is available.
• Prepared a detailed procurement list for desks, blackboards, and science equipment, so we can act immediately when donations arrive.

Why your support still matters:
