In Pakistan, over 13 million women suffer from curable blindness, often neglected in healthcare priorities. This project aims to restore sight to 1,500 women with cataracts, giving them a second chance at life. Regaining their vision will empower them to reclaim their roles as caregivers and providers, allowing them to support their children's education and uplift their families. This effort is about more than just restoring sight; it's about renewing hope, dignity, and brighter futures.
Around 11% of the population faces blindness or impaired vision, with a staggering 90% of these cases being treatable. Yet, poverty and a lack of access to eye care leave countless women suffering in silence, confined to a life of dependence and deprivation. Cataracts are the most common cause of blindness and can be easily corrected with a simple surgery costing just $31. For many, however, this small amount is an insurmountable barrier, denying them the chance to reclaim their independence.
LRBT operates a comprehensive network of hospitals equipped with state-of-the-art facilities across Pakistan. With 20 hospitals and over 60 eye clinics, LRBT ensures that eye care is accessible to everyone in need. Their mission is clear: no man, woman, or child should suffer blindness simply due to an inability to afford treatment. Through this project, we aim to restore sight to 1,500 women living below the poverty line, offering them the invaluable gift of sight.
Restoring the eyesight of these women will uplift them to become active, contributing members of society. With renewed vision, they will access better job opportunities, paving the way for their families to achieve economic stability and a brighter, more hopeful future.
