By Dr Siraj Aden Hassen | Vice Executive Director, East Action Organization
Since our September report, East Action Organization (EAO) has continued site preparation, assessed material prices, and mobilized support for restoring safe water access for Degehabur families.
During the past 30 days, we reviewed changes in material prices caused by the fuel crisis. These changes have increased budget pressures and required us to reassess implementation costs. EAO’s management has decided to cover the additional costs arising from these price increases. After fundraising closes, management will review the total raised and updated costs to determine EAO’s contribution toward the variation.
Our outreach has included sharing project information, posting awareness messages, and contacting potential donors. Twenty donors have contributed US$296.79 through GlobalGiving, including US$31 donated in October. Thank-you messages have been completed for all listed donations.
EAO has not yet received or spent these funds. Site preparation and other non-financial activities were undertaken without using the GlobalGiving donations. Water-restoration work financed through this campaign has not started.
Drought-related hardship, conflict, and wider economic pressures have made fundraising difficult despite our continued efforts. The amount raised remains below the US$20,000 project goal.
Two private companies had promised contributions in October. Neither contribution has been received, and both companies have renewed their promises for November. We are following up with them. These pledges are not included in the reported donation total.
We will continue updating cost estimates, preparing for implementation, and mobilizing resources. We aim to make meaningful progress by the end of December 2026, depending on sufficient funding and receipt of funds. Any changes to this timeline will be communicated to supporters.
We thank all 20 donors and everyone who has shared the project. Their support is helping us move toward restoring safe water access for Degehabur families.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
