This project provides a nutritious breakfast and lunch to 100 children in urban slums in Paraguay, enabling their recovery from malnutrition and securing human capital development in Paraguay.
Due to government neglect and unyielding poverty rates, child malnutrition is a haunting reality in Paraguay. Throughout the country, 1 in 5 children under age 5 suffer from insufficient calories or nutrients. Child malnutrition hinders brain development, diminishing school outcomes and job opportunities in the future. This project contributes to Fundacion CONIN's malnutrition eradication efforts by providing breakfast and lunch to 100 malnourished children from the slums in Asuncion, Paraguay.
Through our two Centers, Fundacion CONIN recuperates malnourished children and works to advance the family's way out of poverty. Services include: medical, nutritional, and cognitive care for children in the program, and capacity building workshops for their mothers. Through this project, we will purchase fortified milk, cereal, and all necessary goods to support breakfast and lunch for 100 children in our program.
This project will provide breakfast and lunch to 100 malnourished children, directly ensuring their adequate physical and cognitive development. In the long-term, adequate nutrition will safeguard these children's future opportunities, allowing them to live to their full potential and break the poverty cycle that currently entraps them.
