Vision care of people in slums & Villages

In India whose population lives predominantly in rural regions, accessibility and affordability of health care products and services, such as eye care, remains an issue.

We are implementing this program in slums of Srikalahasti and surrounding villages which are drought pone, backward area in chittoor district, Andhra Pradesh state, India

 Strategy: STEPS developed partnership with The Aloka VisionProgrammeinitiated and supported by ZEISS, aims to change the landscape of vision care in such areas through entrepreneurial network, technology, innovation, quality spectacles and raising awareness for the benefits of clear vision.

Local entrepreneurs are being trained in basic eye care, screening of people and dispensing of spectacles as well as in entrepreneurial skills. This opportunity helps locals to earn a livelihood. The Aloka entrepreneurs will be connected to an optometrist, who ensures high quality screening and service to the rural beneficiary. 

Training: Motivated local entrepreneurs were trained by ZEISS experts in screening people, dispensing spectacles and entrepreneurial skills. Technology: ZEISS technology solutions ensure smooth refraction and vision test, instant order placement, ophthalmological support and transparency over the entire value chain.

  Activities: STEPS Vision centre organize free eye camps and raising awareness for the benefits of clear vision. As per specifications quality spectacles are manufactured and supplied to peopleon nominal cost by ZEISS, Aloka Vision Program..

 Pullagura Ramanaiah, one of the beneficiaries belonging to Peddakannali village, India expressed that “.After vision check up by STEPS Vision care Centre and wearing spectacles, now I can read and do my regular work without difficulty.”
