Ready to leave for the mission to Cerro de Pasco

By Laura Grassi | Project Manager

Dear followers, friends and donors,

we are excited to let you know that we are ready to go to the mission in Peru.

Thanks to the continuous donations of all of you, we have reached almost 1.700 $ from more than 50 donors along these 5 months. These donations are key at least to start this project.

We'll fly to Cerro de Pasco at the end of the August, starting the development of the study on child health and environmental quality.

We will stay there for almost a month collecting blood and hair samples of more than 100 people and we will  also sample water in the affected area to analyze heavy metals concentration. The goal is to demonstrate the effects of mining pollution in the region.

With those data we will complain to the UN Special Rapporteur on Toxic Wastes and UN Special Rapporteur on Mental and Physical Health. Moreover we will train local communities’ leaders to perform basic social and environmental monitoring system.

Anyway, this is just an anticipation: we will keep you updated step by step about our work there and about community situation with videos, photos and interviews.

You make this happens!

                 We appreciate your support!

                                        Thank you so much
