Restoration Housing Project Update
Dear Supporter,
We appreciate you for your continued support and contribution towards our Housing Project. Your support will go a long way to help us realize this lofty dream for survivors of sex trafficking. Here’s an update of where we stand with regards to raising funds for the take-off of this project.
Although donations have been tricking in since we announced our intentions to provide transitional housing for survivors of sex trafficking, but we are still very far from attaining our goal. We are always grateful to you for believing in our vision and helping us achieve this. Like we mentioned in our January 2017 Report, we are raising funds to provide shelter/transitional housing (3 beds) for victims/survivors of trafficking who are redeemed by the FBI. Our goal in providing this housing is to prevent them from going through the trajectory of jail; a situation that arises from lack of a safe place to keep victims/survivors away from their captors/pimps. Once rescued by the FBI or law enforcement agents, these girls are put in jail for safety and lack of shelters/housing. They are released into the hands of their pimps because the courts send them to treatment programs. Majority of these girls try to abide by the judge’s decision, but when they don’t have alternative housing arrangements, they go back to the one person that would readily provide accommodation for them – their pimps. After a few days of rescue, these girls are back on the streets, arrested/redeemed by law enforcement and back before a judge. This vicious cycle of jail is troubling to us and other organizations that would like to see survivors rehabilitated. And to assuage this problem, we believe providing housing will empower survivors to shun traffickers.
Please continue to help us stop this trajectory of jail and give victims/survivors a reason to remain clean and endure the healing, rehabilitation and restoration process. This transition to a healthy life-style can only happen if we come together as a community to protect these girls.
For this housing project to take off, our immediate need is about $18,000. This amount covers rent for 12 months in a lease to buy option for 3 girls. Currently, you have helped us to raise $1,610; we are still far from our target. Would you please consider spreading the word among your friends and family; share our Project information through so social media contacts. We would like to see this project take off by the end of the second half or third half of the year.
You cannot being to imagine the joy that your support would bring to the hearts of our survivors especially when they are aware of the safety from physical abuse and provision of a safe place to sleep. The thought of jail for an already victimized girl makes me cringe! Please help us save these girls!
Our bid to protect these girls cannot be accomplished if people like you do not support us. We are counting on you to also help us raise funding for this project. Remember, there’s power in numbers!
Please invite your family, friends and colleagues to support our Restoration Housing Project. Share our page at: https://www.globalgiving.org/projects/restoration-house-project
