African community health initiative has again completed its annual medical outreach in the following communities; Amakohia, Avutu and Umugolo. The program was started on the 5th of December and ended on the 13th of December. It was a very successful outreach. Just like previous program, there were lots of heart breaking situations and stories witnessed. We were able to screen 3,736 people. 40% of the people screened carry the diagnosis of diabetes. Some are known cases and others are newly diagnosed. Also 20% of the populations screened are hypertensive, and about 15% has dual diagnosis of both diabetes and hypertension. Our goal of establishing a lab at the resource center is still in progress.
