Every year in Hong Kong, thousands of abandoned or unwanted dogs are left at the death rows in government kennels. Hong Kong Dog Rescue (HKDR) aims to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome as many of these dogs as we can. There are currently over 600 dogs waiting for homes in our facilities, all of them promised to be taken care of for life even if they can't be adopted.
There are thousands of dogs getting killed in Hong Kong every year, simply because they are homeless. We are proud to be a No Kill Organisation, and that also means the number of dogs under our care does not stop increasing. Apart from the expenses involved in rescuing new dogs, we also need a lot of money to make sure the ones who are still waiting for homes are being well taken care of.
We will provide proper care to the rescued dogs under our care for however long it takes for each of them to find a home, be it 1 week, 2 months or 5 years, and as long as they will live. This project will finance a main part of their basic care for certain periods.
We hope by our rescue work and by the promise of "No Kill", we can bring out positive messages in the community for the dogs that having a dog is for life. Responsible pet ownership and choosing adoption over buying are the two keys in those messages.
