Please help us continue to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome abandoned, neglected and sick dogs. Vet care in Costa Rica is expensive and sadly this means many dogs end up being abandoned or severely neglected. We receive calls for help almost daily, but can only rescue a limited number of dogs due to funding constraints. Your support will sustain our 5yr plan, allowing us to continue to rescue, rehabilitate, and rehome more dogs, continue our castration clinics, and run educational programs.
Maintaining financial stability is challenging due to the high number of animals needing urgent care with low amounts of consistent donations. Many of our rescues suffer from severe conditions like starvation, embedded collars, anemia, tick fever, advanced mange, broken bones, and unhealed injuries due to neglect or abuse. Each rescued dog often requires extensive medical treatment and long-term rehab, making regular donations critical to sustain these efforts.
We will continue to rescue, rehab and rehome dogs in need. All of our rescue dogs are vaccinated, castrated and receive medical care to make sure they are healthy when rehomed. Every dog that we are able to rescue, reduces the number of unwanted litters within the community. We also want to continue trapping and castrating stray cats as the population is out of control in some areas, along with our subsidized castration clinics and educational programs to make a difference within our community.
Your support will enable our shelter to continue rescuing and rehoming street dogs & cats, reducing the stray population, and improving animal welfare in the community. Our shelter also not only supports local families' with medication, vaccines and castrations, we also rescue, rehabilitate and castrate stray cats which helps local wildlife. Thank you so much for considering us, please feel free to check us out on social media @patasamaraanimalrescue to see our work in action!
