Landslide disasters are devastating southern Ethiopia, displacing thousands and leaving families in urgent need of basic supplies. In the Gofa Zone, Sidama Region, Bench Sheko Zone, and Kaffa Zone, 500 families are in vulnerable situations and are urgently require non-food items (NFIs) to sustain their lives and begin rehabilitation.
Landslide disasters are currently hitting multiple communities in Ethiopia. Especially, the Souther part of the regions including Gofa Zone, Sidama Region, Bench Sheko Zone and Kaffa Zone are affected because of heavy rains, geographic landscape and vulnerabilities. Besides the deaths of the victims, affected families are displaced and landslide prone households are being relocated.
This project aims to provide life-sustaining and rehabilitative food and nonfood items to 500 vulnerable families affected by landslides by ensuring immediate access to essential supplies for displaced families, support the health and dignity of affected individuals, especially children and pregnant/lactating women and facilitate collaboration with local authorities and organizations for effective distribution.
By addressing the immediate needs and contributing to the long-term recovery and resilience of the affected communities, this project will create sustainable improvements in the lives of 500 households. It will not only provide a lifeline in the immediate aftermath of the disaster but also support the path to recovery and future disaster preparedness.
