1,000 Families Received Food With Your Help

We are so encouraged by the support that has been pouring in to help us reach families affected by Typhoon Haiyan with critical, life-saving aid. Thank you.

Just yesterday, we were able to reach a community where no other help had arrived. The community is called Marubot, and it is home to 7,344 families. In this area alone, 2,058 precious lives were lost in this horrific storm.

“The municipality is totally destroyed,” reported our teams on the ground. “Not one house is left standing. The villages are 100% damaged.”

People are eating coconut meat mixed with salt for survival.

And they’re sick. With no drinking water, diarrhea is spreading fast.

No water. No electricity. No cellphone signal.

And until yesterday, no one had been there yet to help.

I’m happy to report that 1,000 families in Marubot received emergency food rations yesterday – thanks to your support. By the end of the week, we hope to reach more with critical emergency supplies, food, and water.

One of the families we met was Elvira and Lucriscio’s. They and their five children survived the storm by fleeing to a nearby church.

Their house was destroyed in the storm. Their dreams were buried under rubble and broken palm trees. “I was so sad to see our home destroyed,” said their 9-year-old son, Imy.

“We knew a typhoon was coming, but we did not expect it to be so strong,” said Elvira, as she embraced her youngest daughter. “After the typhoon, I took all the clothes that remained. The table and chairs we owned were all broken. Those were all the belongings we had.”

They are thankful that they survived the devastating typhoon and found shelter. They have no idea what their future will look like. Many more families like theirs are waiting for help to arrive.

Thank you for caring about families like this, for giving, and for praying for the people of Marubot and other communities devastated by this disaster.
