Dear Donors,
We sincerely thank you for your continued support toward the Rescue Dogs and Cats from the Meat Trade (Nigeria) project. Your kindness made it possible for us to take a first step in saving animals from harm, and we remain grateful for your compassion.
We are pleased to share an update on Xena, the five-month-old female dog rescued from a meat market in Nasarawa Eggon. Since her rescue, Xena has been growing stronger and is receiving proper care. She is more active, feeding well, and gradually regaining her strength after the difficult condition she was found in.
However, in recent days, we noticed that Xena has developed wounds around her nose. This is a new concern, and she will be taken to the veterinary clinic for proper medical examination and treatment. We are closely monitoring her condition to ensure she receives the care she needs.
Rescued animals like Xena often come with underlying health challenges due to the harsh conditions they endured before rescue. Continuous care is necessary to support full recovery and long-term well-being.
This update highlights both progress and ongoing needs. While we celebrate Xena’s improvement, it also reminds us that rescue is only the first step. Proper medical care, feeding, and monitoring are all part of giving these animals a second chance.
We remain committed to caring for Xena and preparing her for a safe and loving home in the future. At the same time, we continue to raise awareness and work toward reducing the harm faced by animals in the meat trade.
Thank you once again for your support and concern for this cause.
Sincerely,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
