Spring time is such an enjoyable time of the year....unless you are an unneutered/unspayed cat. As the season changes and the cool weather turns warm, the female cats all over town go into heat. Once a female cat is bred it only takes 63 days before she gives birth.
Throughout spring and much of summer the city shelters are inundated with kittens, moms and babies, and pregnant cats. One kitty that was turned in to the local city shelter is named Bailey. She is a beautiful, long-haired, orange cat that was surrendered as a stray, along with her three 4-week-old kittens, Don Julio, Jameson, and Margarita. New Beginnings pulled her and her kittens from the shelter and placed them in a foster home where Bailey loved and nursed on her kittens until they could completely eat on their own. Although the kittens are done with her, Bailey has a valuable resource, her milk! And even though her 3 kittens no longer need it there were several more kittens that did.
Over the next week New Beginning Cat Rescue was able to pull 3 more baby kittens from the city shelter and with the help of Bailey, was able to save them. One little kitten was only 10 days old and would have had a difficult time of making it without Bailey there to nurse and love on him. He was weak and frail at first, but after a week of Bailey's love he is now growing strong and rambunctious. Little Enzo is a lucky boy to have crossed paths with Bailey.
Thank you for supporting our efforts to rescue these darling kittens from being euthanized.
