New Beginnings Cat Rescue offers the guarantee to the adopter of our cat or kitten; if they no longer can keep their pet, they can return their cat to us with no questions asked. That is why it came as a surprise to Stacy, the volunteer who routinely rescues cats from Garland Animal Shelter, when she spotted a cat that had been rescued by NBCR many years ago. In her own words:
“Today, while passing thru GAS to look at moms and babies, I strolled through the cat adoption area and saw this big boy. It took me about 2 seconds to recognize him. His name is Brutus, and he was rescued by a volunteer about 5 years ago. He was about the most beat up tomcat NBCR ever rescued, and one of the sweetest. It took him a long time to get adopted, but he finally did. Now he turns up at the same place we regularly rescue cats from – Garland Animal Shelter.
He is now much overweight, with fleas, and scabs behind his ears (probably from ear mites). His form said "owner moving" - wow! It broke my heart to see him in jail. I have NBCR as his "safety net" so he will not be put to sleep without calling us first. I plan to go get him out on Monday and hope by then we will have a place for him. If anyone can make room for one more BIG guy, please let me know (stacy@gbsgarage.com). Thanks. And Brutus thanks you too.”
We did find a foster family for Brutus. He is on a good diet and is down from 18lbs to 16.8lbs now. He has had been medically treated and immunized. This cat is fantastic and one of a kind.
