What your gift is doing

We have set your $11 aside specifically to purchase a hairdressing training head doll. This doll will be used again and again by women learning braiding, styling, and customer care. It is a simple tool, but it gives a woman a safe way to practice a skill that can become an income.

A story from the program

Let me tell you about a young mother we will call Grace. She is 23 and has two children. Before she came to us, she was surviving on the streets of Mbikko with no safe way to earn money. She joined our counseling and skills-training program and chose hairdressing. At first, she was quiet and unsure. Now she practices whenever she can.

“When I finish,” she says, “I want to open a small salon and pay my children’s school fees.”

Her children stay with her in the program—safe, supported, and not separated from their mother.

What’s next

We are continuing to walk with the women already in the program. The need remains large: $50,000 would cover a full year of care, training, and support for 15 women and 26 children.
