Children in families

By Barsha | Administration

Meet Alisha

Alisha, 14 years old girl, lives in western Nepal. She comes from a disintegrated family where she noticed parent's conflict, father into drugs and mother being alcoholic. This is how Alish was raised in family. Both her parents gone into bad relationship with others.

This was a big trauma for Alilsha and soon at her teenage she started dating with boyfriend. On August 2020, her boyfriend deceived her. He promised of marrying her and both of them left the town and came to Kathmandu, some 250 kms away from her hometown. They lived for few days in a hotel where Alisha was sexually and physically abused. She managed to flee her boyfriend and was rescued by police and referred to Bethany's transit home.

While staying in transit home, Alisha received couselling and traruma care. Our social workers helped her get out of the trauma. At the end of three months, Alisha recovered from the trauma and was ready to live a healthy life. But going back to her parents was a challenge becuase of the desruptive family situaiton. We spoke to her garndmother, who was a gently old lady and was eager to keep Alisha with her. Finally Alisha was restored with her grandmother. Our social workers are working hard to provide counselling and support to Alsha as she lives with her grandmother.

In the last quarter, we were able to resuce 12 children, 8 of who are restored into family or relatives.
