This project by Empower Future Initiative will support vulnerable women, sex workers, trafficked minors, MSM, and transgender persons in Nigeria with HIV prevention, healthcare, rescue, and empowerment services. We provide safe shelter, education, and skills training for their children to break cycles of exploitation, human trafficking, and poverty. By restoring dignity and opportunity, we empower survivors to rebuild their lives and become advocates for change.

Challenge

Human trafficking, sexual exploitation, and gender-based violence remain critical issues in Nigeria. Thousands of women, girls, MSM, and transgender persons are trapped in prostitution, exposed to HIV/AIDS, abuse, poverty, and stigma. Children of sex workers face neglect, child labor, and early exploitation. Many lack education, healthcare, and identity documents, making escape and reintegration difficult while perpetuating intergenerational cycles of poverty and vulnerability.

Solution

This project will deliver community-based HIV prevention, free health screenings, and psychosocial support to over 3,000 vulnerable women and girls. Peer educators help identify and rescue trafficked persons while promoting safe practices. Our shelter will provide protection, education, and vocational training for at-risk children, survivors of trafficking, and those living with HIV. We will empower women with skills, financial literacy, and job opportunities to exit prostitution sustainably.

Long-Term Impact

This project will reduce HIV infections, human trafficking, and gender-based violence in vulnerable Nigerian communities. Survivors will gain economic independence, dignity, and leadership skills to advocate for others. Children will access education and safe environments, preventing second-generation exploitation. Over time, we will build resilient communities where women and youth thrive, poverty declines, and cycles of abuse and exploitation are permanently broken.
