This project aims to provide timely lifesaving NFIs to 100 families in vulnerable situations affected by war and conflicts in the Amhara region of Ethiopia.
Internally Displaced Peoples (IDPs) who were displaced from their homes in the recent conflict in East Wolega Kiramu district of Oromia region have reached Bahir Dar, the capital of Amhara region, pleading for urgent help. According to the displaced people, they reached Bahir Dar after a long and tiring journey to flee from an attack that threatened their lives. Many hundreds of civilians have been killed. Thousands have been displaced and subjected to severe social crisis.
BDO plans to distribute NFIs buying from nearby suppliers for the purpose of urgent delivery, access to supplies and more local items preferred. For the purchase, assembly and distribution of the items working closely and in consultation of OCHA, government stakeholders and the representatives of the affected families is mandatory.
The project will help 100 households get out of the critical effect of the drought, lack of basic supplies and survive until better and long term means of mitigation action in place. Until then, the vulnerable groups are protected from vulnerabilities from diseases, insecurity, dignity, hunger, and lack of assets.
