Even in the middle of the city, small natural refuges still survive where wildlife continues to thrive. Urban parks, space surrounded by streets, buildings, and urban amenities, yet it remains home to squirrels, birds, reptiles, and many other species that coexist daily with humans.
While moving through its territory, a squirrel tried to cross one of the electric wires that run through a urban park. In a matter of seconds, an electric shock coursed through its tiny body. The electricity entered through its mouth and front paws and exited through one of its hind legs, leaving painful burns in its wake. Its whiskers were singed. The shock caused it to fall to the ground.
The person who found it told us that, upon approaching, they noticed a strong burning smell. Despite the pain and fear, this little fighter continued to cling to life.
Thanks to someone who decided to help her, she was immediately transported to receive specialized medical care. She is currently under observation, where we are assessing the extent of her injuries and providing her with the necessary care to relieve her pain, treat her burns, and give her a chance to recover.
Every day we treat wild animals that are affected by human activities. They don’t understand what an electrical wire is, nor do they know the dangers we’ve placed in their path. They’re just trying to survive in the spaces that once belonged entirely to them.
Our greatest wish is to see her recover, climbing once again among the trees in her park, free and healthy. But for stories like hers to have a happy ending, we need your help.
Your donation helps cover medication, medical supplies, tests, food, and specialized veterinary care for injured wildlife. Today, this little squirrel is fighting to return home. With your support, we can give her that chance. Please donate and help us continue saving wildlife. Because every life counts, no matter how small.
