Thank you for joining, supporting, and believing with us that collective work transforms realities.
From July 31 to August 2, 2025, the 8th Summer Art Camp for Dignity and Menstrual Health for girls and adolescents took place in the community of Villa Talea de Castro, Oaxaca, located in the Sierra Norte of Oaxaca, Mexico. A space directed at girls and adolescents to strengthen their socio-emotional skills, self-care, violence prevention, and the approach to dignity and menstrual health through artistic languages and participatory methodologies with a rights-based, gender, intercultural, and anti-racist approach.
During the camp, the girls and adolescents participated in 8 different workshops, which were conducted by teachers with extensive experience in Comprehensive Sexuality Education. In these workshops, we covered various topics about body knowledge, the menstrual cycle, products for its management as an alternative for caring for our bodies and the environment, as well as the recovery of ancestral knowledge for addressing discomfort during menstruation, promoting spaces for free expression, collective learning, and access to information. These learnings can be replicated in their schools, at home, and with other girls their age, being empathetic with those who are starting to experience menstruation and are unfamiliar with the subject, recognizing that menstruation is a natural process that no one should judge, and acknowledging that each girl's body, emotions, and environment are different.
We also held a workshop aimed at mothers, fathers, guardians, and/or caregivers on Child Sexual Abuse, with the goal of strengthening the tools to support and protect girls and adolescents, from a rights-based, care, and community approach.
These meetings reaffirm our commitment to creating safe spaces for addressing Comprehensive Sexuality Education, free from racism and discrimination, dismantling persistent myths, and supporting and informing children about knowing their bodies and their rights.
