Negritude: recording stories about our identity

"We deserve to inhabit our afromexican identity as childhoods without shame and without prejudice"
During the month of June, we held the artistic workshop 'Negritude: recording stories about our identity' in the community of El Campamento, Cerro Hermoso, Villa de Tututepec, located in the coastal region of the state of Oaxaca, Mexico. It was a space aimed at afromexican children with the goal of promoting the rights of afromexican peoples, their culture, and community life from an intercultural and anti-racist perspective.
During this workshop, we reflected on what it means to be an afromexican child, and they expressed their history and life in the community through printmaking.
Thanks to your support, we continue to generate reflections with the children about our black, afromexican, and/or afro-descendant identity.

Comprehensive Sexuality Education for Afro-Mexican

We continue to materialize our dreams!
During a workshop on Comprehensive Sexuality Education in the community of Morelos, Santa María Huazolotitlán, Oaxaca, an Afro-Mexican community located in the coastal region of the state, we addressed information about Sexual and Reproductive Rights with Afro-Mexican children and youth through play.
We also talked about menstrual health and the myths surrounding their experiences; girls and young women learned about environmentally friendly alternatives for their management.
Thank you for continuing to support our initiatives to accompany Indigenous and Afro-Mexican children in the state of Oaxaca, Mexico, so they can know and demand their human rights.

XII Foro de Ninas y Mujeres que inspiran

Durante el mes de octubre de 2024, llevamos a cabo el XII Foro de Niñas y Mujeres Inspiradoras en el marco del “Día Internacional de la Niña y el Día Nacional de las Personas Negras, Afromexicanas, en donde participaron 20 niñas de entre 10 y 12 años de comunidades indígenas, de la comunidad de San Lorenzo Cacaotepec en la región de los Valles Centrales de Oaxaca, México, en donde las niñas tuvieron diversos talleres lúdicos y participativos sobre el manejo menstrual, conversamos sobre sus Derechos Sexuales y Reproductivos a través del juego y conocimos la exposición gráfica denominada “Afroidentidades”, un trabajo realizado por niñas y niños afromexicanos en la región costa que habla sobre las diversas formas de habitar en las comunidades afromexicanas, rescata la cultura y costumbres afromexicanas.
También se presentó la obra de teatro “Entre las nubes o cómo bajarse de ellas”, que aborda la importancia de utilizar habilidades socioemocionales para establecer límites, comunicarse asertivamente y pedir apoyo ante la violencia y la explotación sexual.
Gracias por seguir apoyando nuestras iniciativas para apoyar a la niñez indígena y afromexicana del estado de Oaxaca, México para que conozcan y exijan sus derechos humanos.
