We provide free counselling, free treatment and self esteem for girls and women in Kenya through our local cooperating partners!
We are cooperating with two medical clinics plus three partners for girl empowerment and SRH/STI counselling in Kenya. We continue with our schoolfostership program for 11 girls + five students in Teaching Training Colleges. We recently supplied the school with 20 new laptops.
Current Activities and Achievements
The organization currently provides direct support to approximately 8,000 girls annually, manages 100 teenage pregnancies, and treats around 200 sexually transmitted infections each year. The demand for medical assistance remains extremely high, especially in the Kayole district of Nairobi, where poverty, unemployment, and inadequate healthcare are part of daily life. Most families rely on casual labor and lack a secure income. Girls and young women are particularly vulnerable, as topics such as sexuality, contraception, and menstruation are largely taboo.
New Initiatives: Expanding Impact
To address these challenges, social-bag.com e.V. has launched a new "Train the Trainer" program. The goal is to double the number of girls and young women receiving counseling and education. The program targets teachers in local schools, equipping them to address topics relevant to girls in their classrooms—subjects for which they previously lacked training. Three one-day workshops will be held for groups of six teachers each, led by partner Florence Kioko. Workshop topics include sexuality, contraception, support for unplanned pregnancies, and the importance of continuing education for teenage mothers.
Long-Term Goals
The association aims to provide sustainable education and empowerment through direct assistance. According to Dr. Anke Gaussmann, founder and chairwoman, the mission is to "restore dignity and self-confidence to girls, enabling them to develop into strong individuals."
Funding and Organization
social-bag.com e.V. is funded exclusively by donations. All administrative costs are covered privately or by sponsors. The association was founded in 2017 to serve as a platform for sustainable, fair, and tolerant self-help initiatives. In addition to donations, the organization has raised funds by selling "social bags"—shopping bags made from recycled newspaper in Kenya and Nepal.
We thank all our partners and donors for the continued support.
